The Palms Day Spa Grand Opening

This is my dad serving up the champagne and mimosas.

This is my mom putting the final touches. She is the one that created the beautiful tropical arrangements.

We were hired to do the grand opening of the Palms Day Spa last year. We were given less than a week to put it together including the tables, food, and beverages. We served almond champagne and mimosas as guests arrived. The food was beautifully displayed with greenery and included chicken and beef skewers, vegetable spring rolls, cheese and crackers, and chocolate ganache with fresh fruit.

Wedding at Mountain Hawk Park

My little sister was married last year at a beautiful ceremony at Mountain Hawk Park. She had plans on having a small civil ceremony at the courthouse. If you know my family, you know this was unacceptable. My parents and I planned the wedding in less than two weeks. The ceremony was held at Mountain Hawk park overlooking the Otay Lakes. This was the time to call in all the favors from all my acquantainces. I called in a favor to one of Pinata World's customers who works at Parks & Recreation for the City to reserve the amphitheater. Kathy from Kathy's Cakes made the beautiful wedding cake and we ordered flowers from Efrain's Wholesale Florist. After the ceremony, we had the reception in my parent's backyard. My grandmother cooked a wonderful traditional birria meal. You don't need a lot of time and money to plan a wedding or any party. The most important part of hosting an event is to ensure that your guests and you have a good time. Everything else will fall into place.

Salt Creek Elementary School Fun Run- Pictures of runners

Did anyone take pictures of Dr. Glover with blue hair? If the school did not have 500 participants, the principal had to dye his hair blue. I think there were 540 runners. Does anyone have pictures of Dr. Glover with blue hair? If so, please email them to me so I can post them. By the way, my son is the one with the blue shirt.

Salt Creek Elementary School Fun Run

We donated the balloon arch for my son's school fun run on Saturday, May 17, 2008. We showed up at 6 am to start building the pillars and arch. The balloons started popping because by 8 am it was extremely hot - it felt like it was 90 degrees. There was also a bee that kept popping the balloons - it was pretty comical. You can never provide a guarantee that balloons will not pop because there are always items out of our control.

Otay Ranch Farmer's Market

We are so excited to be a part of the new Farmer's Market at the Otay Ranch Center. The market opened up on Tuesday, May 13, 2008. We had a strawberry pinata made for the ribbon cutting ceremony. Mayor Cheryl Cox and other officials participated in the ceremony. The market will be held every Tuesday from 4 to 8 pm. We will be hosting a booth there every Tuesday. Please stop by and sell hello at our booth which is located near the food pavillion.

Claudia graduates from the Leadership Academy with the City of Chula Vista

I just graduated from the Leadership Academy with the City of Chula Vista. It was an awesome experience to learn how the city functions. The seven week course was hosted by Mayor Cheryl Cox and different city officials. Each Wednesday evening, we had dinner with the Mayor and then learned about different departments including administration, elected officials, safety, planning & development, finance, recreation, and public works. We were also given a bus tour that showed us all the upcoming projects in Chula Vista including the Gaylord project in the City's bayfront. It was a great experience and gave me a chance to meet new wonderful people.

Southbay Expressway SR-125 Grand Opening

I just found the pictures of the balloons we did for the grand opening of the Southbay Expressway. We had to be on the freeway by 6 am to do the balloons for the cycling event. KUSI was there filming the grand opening. I'm sure many of you spotted Albert behind the reporter trying really hard to get on camera. After the cycling event, we moved the pillars to the festival at the Otay Ranch Town Center. We set up a booth at the festival and showcased our products.

More pictures of the Mariachi Festival

Mariachi Festival at Southwestern College

We were invited to decorate the stage for the Mariachi Festival at Southwestern College for the second year. We decorated it two years ago - last year the director did not want the stage decorated. We were asked to do it this year and it made such a difference. The colors and decorations just gave it that extra touch.
